JOELLE KAYEMBE: CONGO'S BRIGHT DIAMOND!

Joëlle Kayembe was born in Congo but moved to South Africa from the age of 11 due to the war that was shattering her native land.

She spent her teenage years growing in Johannesburg where she fnally got the opportunity to start modelling after signing a contract with Ice Model management. She has done a lot of advertisements for many brands like Foschini, Playtex, and Sprite Zero.

She was the first black model on the cover of South African Sports Illustrated magazine. She got her notoriety by appearing in a video clip named “Pimpin All Over the World” by American rapper Ludacris. She was also a finalist in the international supermodel 2005 competition in China.

Recently, Joëlle became the new face of the famous footwear brand, Sketchers, in South Africa. She joins superstars like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Ashlee Simpson who have served as spokespersons for the footwear brand in the past.

Joelle is the highest paid black model in South Africa and is best known as one of the hostesses in the television program “Deal or No Deal.”

Philomena Kwao is a gorgeous a 23 year old economics graduate of Ghanaian heritage. She is currently doing an MSc in International Health Management and she is Britain’s first black plus size model!

Philomena surpassed thousands of hopefuls in a nationwide competition by curvy clothing label Evans in collaboration with Models 1 and Style369.com. She was one of the 5 finalists in the competition and is now signed to Models 1‘s new division Models 1+ representing curvier women.

She is such an inspiration. Juggling univeristy with a modelling career as well as promoting a healthy message about shape and beauty.

As a former video vixen she goes under the aliases Angel or LoLa Luv and currently as a rapper she goes under the alias Lola Monroe, adopting ‘Monroe’ from the late Marilyn Monroe. Angel was discovered by professional photographer and agent Mike Styles, CEO of Modeling Agency Style Entertainment. They talked about the latter doing her photo shoot and becoming her manager. They started working together with Mike’s partner Michelle Vierya and she found huge success in the urban modeling market. She has had spreads in magazines such as XXL, King, and Smooth. Moreover, she has had many roles in music videos by very big names in the rap industry such as 50 Cent, Kanye West, Lloyd Banks, Busta Rhymes and Young Jeezy. In 2009, Lola Monroe released three mixtapes officially launching her career as a female MC. She confirmed via her official Twitter page that her debut album is in post production.

Nicki Minaj returns today with some original ish, after her "Boss Ass Bitch" remix and her "Danny Glover" remix. She's released a brand new music video for a track called "Lookin Ass Nigga" which has direction from Nabil. The other day we saw some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot via Nicki's Instagram, although at the time we thought it was for a photo shoot-- it was actually a video shoot. This record is set to appear on the upcoming Young Money compilation, "Young Money: Rise Of An Empire" which drops March 11th.

Lupita Nyong’o's emotional Oscar’s acceptance speech

Lupita Nyong’o won the Oscar for best supporting actress Sunday for her role as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave.” The film represented a major triumph in the life of the Mexican-born, Kenyan-raised actress, who came to acting relatively late — “12 Years a Slave” was, incredibly, her first film.

Nyong’o broke down in tears during her acceptance speech, and said that every time she looked at the golden trophy, it would be a reminder to people everywhere that, “.When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”
