Lupita Nyong’o's emotional Oscar’s acceptance speech

Lupita Nyong’o won the Oscar for best supporting actress Sunday for her role as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave.” The film represented a major triumph in the life of the Mexican-born, Kenyan-raised actress, who came to acting relatively late — “12 Years a Slave” was, incredibly, her first film.

Nyong’o broke down in tears during her acceptance speech, and said that every time she looked at the golden trophy, it would be a reminder to people everywhere that, “.When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.
